Print Production: A Non-Technical Approach

You will learn terminology, cost alternatives, and the technical tools in the changing world of print production

  Focus: 

Print Production: A Non-Technical Approach is an intensive one-day seminar designed to take those centrally involved in advertising quickly and deeply into the changing world of print production. It examines the process step-by-step from the vantage point of what the typical person responsible for the printed piece would see at all phases. The seminar introduces the terminology, the alternatives, what to look for, the decisions to be made at each stage, and the cost implications of overlooking any of these.

  Who Should Take This Program?  

Advertisers — who do print advertising; Agencies/PR/ Communication/ Promotion Companies—account personnel, creative, junior production personnel, media, etc. who need a better understanding of print advertising. Suppliers — sales reps, inside production coordinators  
Publishers — media reps, inside production personnel. Government — those involved in advertising, promotion, public relations, marketing communications. Vendors and Dealers - suppliers to the Graphic Arts industries who have personnel requiring an overview of the industry.

This course provides a comprehensive look at the basics of print production. You will begin to understand the roles and responsibilities of each production step - from preparation to printing, and gain new insight into the many problems and possibilities of printing. You will learn the techniques, terminology, pitfalls and cost options at various printing stages. Learning from examples and tours, and through discussion, you will gain hands-on exposure to what is involved in this complex field.

  Who Should Take This Program?  

If you are already working in print production or are considering moving into this field, PRINT PRODUCTION BASICS is an excellent introduction to the industry. Anyone with decision-making responsibilities for printed matter or advertising can benefit from a greater understanding of the printing process. Advertisers who order printing services directly or through agencies can enhance their understanding of realistic expectations, budgets and timing. Advertising agency personnel, creative or production services, as well as design studio professionals can gain the knowledge and skills necessary to handle the many demands of print production accountability. Participants in this program may attend a plant tour which takes place on a date established during the training session. Out-of-town participants are encouraged to contact the IBEC Training Center prior to the start of the course to make arrangements for a tour.
